Welcome by Dr Gregory Makrides

We are pleased to announce the approval and initiation of the Grundtvig Life-Long-Learning EU funded project “Career-EUshop”, of which it is a partner. The project gathers partners from Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Norway and Spain, with an external evaluator from Austria.

The objective of this project is to provide EU counselors with a common framework of best career counselling servises, methods and practices in public and private institutions and authorities, and develop a training programme for career counsellors.

In European Union today many public and private centres and local authorities are giving career services as a life long process in different ways in their attempt to deal with unemployment. There is no method of collecting and sharing of good practices, experiences and innovative practices at European Level. Because of this lack of information and communication, EU doesn’t have the opportunity to share the knowledge, coordinate processes and results of the services, disseminate and take advantage of good practices and train the counselors.

The objective of this project is to provide EU counselors with a common framework of best career counselling servises, methods and practices in public and private institutions and authorities and develop a training programme for career counsellors.

The people who need career guidance or are interested in such guidance include all adults seeking a job or a change of job including those with special needs, pupils of age 15-18, university students, counselors, senior citizens, decision makers etc.

The aim of this project is to contribute to the establishment of such framework through the collection, analysis of good practices and the promotion of cooperation and training.

Activities:

  • European level survey of good practices, research and related project results on career guidance to be presented as electronic guide of best practices
  • Study and analysis of the data collected in order to develop appropriate material for and design a course for career guidance counselors and adult trainers including counseling for special needs people, marginalised and disadvantaged citizens, migrants and senior citizens
  • Develop a guide with the course material as well as other useful dissemination materials
  • Development of a Web-site for information and communication with regards to the aims of the project
  • Organize an Annual European Conference on Career Guidance in Europe
